It was a wild time. I remember being a teenager or in college and driving hours and states away with written directions or printed Mapquest directions and my book of cds with limited cell service. What freedom we had.

I drove to North Carolina at like 19 with Mapquest directions, no cell phone charger and vibes. It was 12+ hours away now I’m like hmm definitely need Waze for this 12 minute drive to the new Target.

I end up punching every single thing into GPS, even if I know exactly where I’m going, because where I live the traffic is so awful that it’s the difference between taking 15 minutes to get somewhere or an hour. But we always had either an atlas or those Thomas guides in our cars! However, if the road you were supposed to go on was closed, that was it.

Flashbacks of having to navigate the beltway (DC/MD) trying to find my exit on the Rand McNally atlas!!! That page was dirty from how much I handled it going to the area……. Shudders……

I don't drive, but even in like 2012 when I didn't have a phone or anything, I used to take a picture of the google maps directions on my digital camera and use it to guide me to where I needed to go LOL.
