I have a Washburn A10 1981 with DāMarzio double cream Super Distortion puās great pickups and that was my main gigging guitar for 30 years.

I love the Dimarzio Super Distortion. One of my favorite example of Super D is the KISS Alive II double album. Ace Frehley had Super Distortion pickups in his Les Paul. His tone on this album was incredible.

Never knew this! If not for this happy accident, I doubt anyone ever would've thought to design such a small thing intentionally; and i guarantee you no one ever imagined something as inconspicuous as mismatched bobbin colors would become iconic in the way it did.

This reminds me of the story I heard about nickel strings. They first started making them because nickel is cheaper then steel but people liked the sound more then the steel strings

The cream bobbin is the natural colour of the plastic without the added black pigment, which they or the bobbin supplier ran out of.
You will see original 1950s pick ups that the cream bobbin is a different shade than the other cream plastics.
