I think Annie was Michael Myers favorite kill. Here’s why I believe that:

When Michael is six years old he puts on a phallic looking mask and walks across the hall to stab his nude sister. But there’s something that makes that scene interesting: as Michael stabs Judith, he isn’t looking at her. He’s looking at his hand.

Know why?

What’s in Michael’s hand? A large butcher knife. Yet another phallic looking object.

So right from the beginning there’s a psycho-sexual component to Michael’s crime.

Let’s look at the women he stalks.

Laurie: A virgin girl who’s shy, sexually repressed, but very studious and responsible.

Lynda: Who’s the complete opposite. Flighty, promiscuous and irresponsible. Interesting thing to note here, do you know what Lynda’s full name is?

Lynda van der Klok.

A Dutch name that roughly translates to Lynda by the time.

Or…

Even more loosely translated…Lynda of the Time.

A woman of her time. The 70’s was the time of sexual liberation and free-spiritedness.

Is it any wonder why Michael stuffs her body in a closet? As if to hide it away? More on that later.

Then there’s Annie.

Annie Brackett who is a calm medium between Laurie and Lynda. Promiscuous like Lynda BUT studious like Laurie. Albeit not as responsible.

Michael got to stalk Annie. Observe her from the shadows. He got to violate her privacy and listen to her private phone conversations. He watched her strip down to her underwear.

Yes, he saw Lynda nude. Her bare chest. But that didn’t excite him much because there wasn’t much of an element of voyeurism.

He stuffed Lynda, the woman who reminded him of his sister, in the closet.

His breathing intensifies as Annie suffocates to death. Choking, gasping for her last breath. A slow…painful death.

And worthy of being the body he displays on the bed(the same one Lynda was lying in btw) under the headstone of Judith.

His first kill and probably along with Annie, his favorite.

Now…don’t get me wrong. Laurie was who incited him by walking up to the Myers house. But I don’t believe he would’ve gone out of his way to kill her.

He enjoyed stalking her. But had she not went over to Annie’s house, he might not have bothered with it.

Laurie was his second favorite victim.

Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise…in the first movie there is clear evidence that Michael is a lust murderer.

Because Halloween was never intended to be a franchise, let alone have a sequel.

Until one was forced on John Carpenter and he had to create motivation for Michael to pursue Laurie.
