Let me Quick fix this with a caveat- this is meant to be a PC.
Choose Gothyanki.
Choose Ranger
Take all Tasha Options for Ranger for survivability
When choosing Skills make sure you get Animal Handling - this is the skill you use not to fall off the dragon when riding em. (Ask your DM this seems very common)
(Also remember in Monsters of the multiverse that you have Astal Knowledge so this skill is replaced with the feature).
Put the 2 point buff into Dex (add int to a 15 in Dex) and the +1 in Wis (13)
Once you are level 2 pick Archery (keep a piercing weapon for offense).
At level:
- 4th choose Sharp shooter (more damage)
-8th choose Piercing (+1 dex taking you to 18 and a bit more damage)
-12th choose Mounted Combatant
-16th choose Dex +2 (maxing out Dex)
Branch here (lvl16) to multiclass: For Power go Fighter 4 Cavalier or Peace Domain to make your DM cry. Or stay Ranger for the last feat earlier.

You can also go paladin or bard as Find Greater Steed can get you a Dragonnel to ride. All spells you cast on yourself also affect your mount.

Actually already playing this as a level 7 4 Warlock 3 Ranger Drakewarden split, playing as a changing who was hidden living among the Githyanki, and made a deal with an eldrich entity for the power to escape the ship to a nearby world with a dragon egg!

Where do you find this find this information? We are just starting a new campaign and I am playing a Githyanki Cleric and any more information I can get would be greatly appreciated. Can I have a dragon as a Cleric?

Why would a githyankyi settle for a Drake when they had Red Dragons from a pact made with their queen and tiamat. you'd be a laughing stock to all gith yanki. Guess it's a roleplay angle.
Favored foe is Not just Extra damage compared to hunters mark but yes it will free up a bonus action for your pet if you avoid HM
Dueling just isn't relevant to your pet and you can go whatever you like
You act like these levels come quickly as well, for a majority of the game you're Nonfunctioning
