Fantastic news overnight with the Senate inquiry into the Inland Rail project handing down their recommendations to the Federal Parliament.

Recommendation 2 calls on the Federal Government to review the 2015 business case, including a connection to the Port of Gladstone.
Then the Senate inquiry goes further with Recommendation 8 calling on the Federal Government to fund that comprehensive review into the connection to the Port of Gladstone.

This is something we have been fighting for for many years.
This project will create thousands of jobs and billions of dollars’ worth of infrastructure for regional communities right from Toowoomba through to Miles, into the Banana Shire and to the Port of Gladstone.

I want to thank all Senators for their recommendations, but I particularly want to thank Anthony Chisholm for his advocacy on ensuring that this project is connected to the Port of Gladstone.

As I said, this is thousands of jobs and billions of dollars’ worth of investment in regional Queensland.
