The alex drawers are good for cable management since theres a lot more space behind and you can just shove everything in a drawer

i was a ikea desk use long before it was cool.
when it became cool i sold it and switch to a standing desk i built. solid butcher block counter tops i sanded stained and sealed. got a 250 lbs support standing desk legs and 100% invisible cable compartment underneath and a cable track.

Sure, it looks better but you're missing out on the storage from the draws. OK you could just put the draws elsewhere, however not everyone will have the space.

Now if you went with Felix spot then you couldve gotten a standing desk frame alone then you could still use the countertop

I have the IKEA desk and it works awesome It fits so good and literally every set up.

My university got those decks for the teachers. (Not in the class rooms) So they can be productive no matter if they wanna stand or sit.

I used a scratch and dent metal clad door from the local Menards. It was 10 bucks. And it's a metal exterior door, so it's super durable.

The ikea called a hack is cause you buy storage and counter top to make a fancy desk. But this is just buying an up and down desk, and where even the hack part is?
