Yeah because they're too cheap to run anything on their servers... Partnering with openai alleviates them from having to ask any money from its consumers and incentivizes openai to create higher compatibility with iPhones and charge money... Just like chat GPT after so many AI prompts or compute usage, you will get charged a fee or go back to dumb Siri... Google had a AI driven model For like 3 to 6 months but silently stopped it... With the new laws on web services Google does not want to be intermediaries as it can further implicate them Even with disclaimers due to gross negligence.... It's like selling metal pipes and knowing that they can easily made into slide fire shotguns and they also have nails and everything else to Finnish the job ... Google has sold there domains business and other operations as well... Maintenance cost are a huge deal and contracts with governments make them responsible for collecting data and reporting data so the less they have the more money they make ... It's better to be a middle man than be the beginning and last of a output chain in terms of legal ramifications...store fronts cost money and so does marketing after all as well ... Anywho lol
