57% of Floridians voted to protect access as well… but the measure didn’t pass

I think this is a consequence of a two party system, people may want multiple things, but only one candidate covers that part of the metaphorical venn diagram. They might want austerity as well as abortion rights, no candidate grants both. It almost feels like using the wrong formula to get the right answer, but a multiparty system would definitely solve this.

I think it may be because the decision on president has SOOOO many more issues and topics than just abortion. When asked specifically about abortion and abortion alone, they went for it. But when choosing president, abortion was just a piece in a huge political puzzle.

Missouri also voted to raise the minimum wage and for sick leave to workers

never let anyone tell you progressive economic policies don’t have support

Like someone else said, Florida didn’t vote to reject, they just didn’t hid the 60% threshold to pass the bill. The majority did vote in favor of it though which really makes you think.

Just shows that people are not monoliths and exist on multiple spectrums. As a Missourian I was surprised it passed, glad it did too.

People don't necessarily care about abortion, they care about the overall agenda of the party. Making this a single issue debate is non-sensical.

I suppose they did not feel like voting for Kamala, even though the majority favored abortion rights.

Edit: And no! The Harris campaign did not entirely just focus on abortion. It was Republican media that made it seem like she did. Nevertheless, Trump won fair and square. (I'm not American. This is just what can objectively be observed.)

As a Missourian, even though we voted to bring back abortion rights people also re-elected estate governor who said he didn't care what the vote said and wouldn't allow abortion rights in Missouri

I have never been so ashamed and embarrassed by being an American. Trump and the Republican party are a complete waste of human space and time.

Most important issues were: the Economy, Inflation, the Southern Border/ Immigration, and the wars in Ukraine and Israel.
NOT abortion.

He literally said he would veto a bill for a federal ban on abortion. Leave it up to the states.

Wow, who would have thought that people and politicians are complex things and that they don't have to follow every single party stereotype?

Okay but this is painting it like Trump is vehemently anti-abortion which he is not. This is exactly what Trump wants, the states and their people to decide what’s best for them. As far as republicans go he is pretty moderate on the topic and these shady media tactics are what landed him a crushing victory.

Georgia Supreme Court also just overturned the state abortion ban.

Which shows the system working AS INTENDED. The federal government is not meant nor designed to be some overbearing authority. The federal governments role is well defined in the constitution. The overturning of Roe v Wade passed responsibility back to the states, and it is now the responsibility of the people of these states to vote. If their state representatives aren't voting how they want them to, then they need to elect someone else. But, people don't like to hear that.
