For breath of the wild to have such an attention to detail, it felt so odd to have some aspects not explained such as npc’s forgetting you, ancient sheikah technology disappearing, and the divine beasts going missing.
For the divine beasts and ancient tech you can kinda assume it was recycled into some of the other devices we see around, but it’s never actually made apparent. Same with the purah pad. They act in the game like it’s a huge advancement in technology, even though it’s just a sheikah pad 2.0

Don't forget there's literally a cutscene IN TOTK where it shows link picking up the master sword in the lost woods after letting it repair itself for a while so even if we take botw out of the equation HE HAS STILL MET THE KOROKS

Somehow, half of hyrule dont know who link is. Like you think people would know him from SAVING THE WORLD! At least the yiga still remembers him.

Well the koroks in korok forest do refer to link as Mr. Hero still, so maybe the traveler koroks are just so many that link didn’t meet all of them when finding the 900 in botw.

Reminder that, the first koroks you find in TotK are high up in the sky islands, where link has only just arrived just now... They're not aware of BotW happenings.

I think that once link was given his main quest in the first game that was all he worked towards, either skipping or not caring about anything that didn't lead to zelda. Main NPCs were mandatory so they would still know him in TOTK. Koroks are not necessary to story they don't know him, just busy work for us players.
