Today is the day, all Hallows Eve, and throughout October 2024 we have been discussing some of our favorite games to play around the Halloween season. Now it is time to reveal our favorite of all of our Halloween games.

I will admit that Halloween is not one of my favorite times of the year. As such, I'm particular in the Halloween-themed games that I play each October. As such, I wanted to share some of my favorite games to play around Halloween with you. I don't dig a ton of blood, guts, and gore, but one series that is full of all of that has won me over. That is why Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition is not just a must-play game for Halloween, but it's a must-play if you own a Wii!

As I generally do not like slasher movies, I don't like gory movies or movies with tons of violence, it may come as a surprise that my favorite game to play this time of year is Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition. I had no experience in this franchise before Resident Evil 4, and looking back at previous games I'm glad this was my entry point. Knowing nothing about the franchise or characters, I just knew that it was an action third-person shooter with a really interesting story.

I know many people were not very excited about waggle controls or motion controls on the Wii, but I have to say that Resident Evil plays phenomenally on this platform, perhaps one of the best to ever utilize motion controls. Using the Wii remote gave you precision and accuracy that simply was not available on the PlayStation at the time, and it also provided a visual upgrade over the GameCube.

Through Resident Evil 4, I've actually dove into other games in the series. I've gone back to play Resident Evil 1 through 3, and I will tell you they were disappointing compared to Resident Evil 4. I thought Resident Evil 5 was decent, 6 was not so good. I have not played Resident Evil VILLage as of yet, it is something I own but have not had a chance to get to.
