The two legs (or lungs as pope John Paul said) are the east and west of the holy Roman Empire continued into the Roman Catholic and the Greek Orthodox, following on from the Greco Roman roots of Byzantium/novaRoma/Constantinople. The clay mixed with the iron is the spirit of humanism mixed in with the iron of tyre old Pago-Christian empire whose lineage is continued into modern day Catholic/christian empire.
The iron and clay wonât mix well though and will be likely to shatter as baked poor quality clay does, taking the iron with it.
When a powerful Christian orthodox nationalist power takes Constantinople you will have seen the image empire once again standing up. Rome will be its brains, Constantinople will once again be its brawn.

Agreed, replacement theology is very problematic. But so is dispensationalism, with some going so far as to call it heretical. Dispensationalism is behind so much American Christian Zionism, which has led to an unbending favor of Israel which ignores their atrocities and goes against Jesusâ ethics. Please read Scot McKnightâs Revelation for the Rest of Us and give your thoughts. You may realize that your âprophetic understanding of current eventsâ - though not entirely wrong - is not totally in line with the proper use of apocalyptic literature.
