No matter the skill or following trends to being up to date, the one key principle of being a good DJ is entertaining the crowd. If you cannit make it intresting you wont get bookings. Everyoneās got their way of DJing, if its advanced mixing to extreme mic usage or acts like throwing cakes on people it makes the word go around. Itās all about personality. Change my mind.

I started in 2007 to incorporate ableton live in music I did in a band. I am pro bass player and from there I got a friend who asked me to DJ a night in a bar as he couldnāt do the job, then I became resident there when he left the town. Now I play 3 times a week every summer on a terrace. My bass skills fed my DJ gigs.

I started in lockdown in 2020 and practiced a lot at home. In the summer of 2020 I might mix once or twice at my cousin's shisha bar
This was very important, being an introvert and being able to shed my nervousness, I spent countless nights on the Macbook creating sets and practicing the controller training for at least half an hour before and after my work, 2 years later and defying my very low social media reach, I'm fully booked almost every weekend.

Man I really gotta start producing soon. Like I have all the basics of music because I have learnt to play the guitar and piano but idk how to start, with what software, with what guidance and when to start. I hope that I'll find my way soon. Thank you DJ Carlo for opening my eyes... And ears...

Ask yourself why you want(ed) to be a DJ. Iāve been DJing for 29 years. Iāve done mobile DJ(weddings, parties, car shows), club DJ(guest and resident) radio mix shows(live and prerecorded), production(redrums, mashups, dance routine edits), portablism, battle routines, and probably some other things Iāve forgotten. I love every aspect of DJ culture. I love sitting back and listening to other DJs most times. Why? Because I love music! I got into DJing because of the music. Not the crowd of strangers, not the hyped up couple of hours at the club, and definitely not for fame. I like hearing the DJ not seeing the DJ unless itās Carlo and he showing us tips and tricks š but to me itās all about the music. I sold all my sound and lighting equip 15 years ago and reverted back to a bedroom DJ doing radio mixshow for the local fm radio š¤·š½makes me happy just mixing music I like and not stressing about other peopleās events.

I started last year in january and became a Resident DJ for a organisator for K-Pop Parties here in germany in november last year. This only happened because I visited their parties sometimes and one day i decided to sent them a video where I made a 1 hour K-Pop mix and asked them: "Hey guys, can I mix maybe 4-5 songs on the next party? I just want to DJ for a crowd.
Just for the experience" They wrote back: "How about you do the whole warm-up? You are pretty solid with your transitions". So I did the warm-up for around 2 hours and after the party they told me they want to book me. Which blew my mind. I was so so happy. A few weeks later they called me and asked me if I want to exclusive DJ for them and that they pay me a few bucks for it at the beginning which increases in later on. Of course I agreed and now I'm pretty close with them, not just the "DJ" it's more part of a family. We help each other where we can, even outside of the events.
