Consider what happened in the book of acts at Pentecost. They all praised God in different known tongues that people understood.
Now lets consider today for instance, if someone was a Korean visitor to a church it would be much like pentecost if someone who did not know Korean started speaking Korean while praising God (speaking to God).
That serves a purpose. But how many of us have heard someone speak a language they never studied yet someone understood it and another translated it?
Im waiting for that time but I have not heard it yet. Meanwhile, even helping others is considered a "greater gift".
Tongues is useful for building up the church so long as there is one to interpret.
Which I would guess is why even helping others is what Paul has called a "greater gift" because it doesn't need someone to interpret in order to build other up.
If you have a gift for learning languages quickly I can only say, use that ability to serve the church. If someone is a spanish speaker that doesnt know english but would like to learn the Gospel message from the sermon, that person should use their talents for God's glory.
I believe God still works in wonderful and mysterious ways today. I totally believe in the gifts because God didnt say they would go away and if someone thinks they did I would say only at the end of the age because then everyone will understand eachother in Heaven with Jesus. There will be no confusion. God will make all things known to us for God is not a god of confusion but of order. ❤

I see so many YouTube Videos on how to Speak in Tongues and about the Gift Of Tongues. There are SO MANY other Fantastic Gifts. Sadly as Believers, We sometimes ignore the other Blessed Gifts that We may have within us.

WoW So 100 100 100 TRUE This is Exactly what happened to ME as a Preteen at Assembly of God Summer Camp 1974. I lost my Faith for Decades (I'm 60 now) due to ALL the Kids where "Blessed" and were able to speak in Gibberish, but NOT ME …
Now I praise Jesus Christ for Not allowing me to do so, otherwise I'd still be LOST
I have a interesting Testimony about my Lost Years... I've come full circle after searching MANY different "Religions" for Truth over decades.
