I agree 100%. This is an example of what my father always stated, "Nothing in life is given to you for free" (there is always some hidden cost somewhere). Now that I know this I look for hidden fees and challenge them, for example my cell phone bill.

I did engineering at a state school. We had a $750 engineering technology service fee applied every semester. My grad tuition was funded with a living stipend, and even then, we had to pay a $2000 fee to the university every year.

Not just music school, im in social science and my school charges me $1,000+ in "fees". they force me to pay a "gym" membership... and for a "nurse" that ive never seen in my life and idk where it's located. also a "bookstore" fee, i asked because i dont buy my books there and they said it pays the salaries of the employees... yet, the employees are all doing work study ๐ค

Bro that's not just music school. I have a bs in electrical engineering and all labs were considered "fees" even though labs made up 40% of the grade. It's a racket for sure.
