As an iranian myself, it is indeed extremely ridiculous, maybe if it was international or something it would be okay but the term "german" come with distinct geography, culture, history, ethnicity, language and etc from that of iran, this could be even an insult to iran itself.

It doesn’t matter to me at all what someone’s ethnicity is in a beauty pageant like this, but the fact that neither of these women were born in the country they’re representing is what irks me

But it’s worth mentioning that white people (including some japanese born white people) aren’t treated like Japanese people in Japan. They’re treated like foreigners no matter how long they’ve lived there, because they look different. I think this is an experience that might be shared by both of these women

btw the reason a lot of japanese ppl were mad abt the white girl won wasnt relating to race/nationality (though there was def that xenophobic tone in a lot of comments) but more bc she ALLEGEDLY had an affair w a married man and relinquished her crown for that reason. japans xenophobia would alsp be less about her being white and more about not being japanese. the more u know

I'm okay with both women representing their countries. The thing about asking Americans this question is that this would be a non-issue in America. Any ethnicity could represent the U.S. and no one would care. I think Miss Germany is much prettier though.

Not to say I have any resentment against dark skinned people but if we can have a Iranian ms Germany why can’t we have a Chinese ms Iran or a Norwegian ms Uganda

Although I don’t agree and think it’s ridiculous as an Iranian woman, I have to tell that the white woman could do it in her own country while Iranian woman could never ever do that in iran ( this is so small and ridiculous compared to other problems that we are facing in both woman rights and human rights even basic ones…!)

Ok, I'm a mixed-race women white / black
I would say i dont have a problem with a white woman winning Miss Japan only if she was born raise there. She is representing her country. White, black Chinese, any color born raised there represent your country 👏🏽
Do it .

I think both women are beautiful and tbh i don't see a problem id be more than happy to hear your thoughts circling around this situation but i see people for who they are and not their skin tone

It’s tricky to have an opinion on this, but it does sound ridiculous for a Caucasian women to win a beauty contest in an asian country and a middle eastern woman to win in a Caucasian country .

Asking such a question to Americans is like slapping every nation that has a certain canon of beauty in the face. Americans are a mix of every country in the world and see no difference....

This comment section is horrendous lmao, bother interviewees are really pretty and they literally didnt even say anything bad abt the white miss japan? Y'all were just expecting them to so you twisted their words, all they said was that nothing can be unfair to white people in this scenerio as this isnt about oppression or anything systemic... which is true lmao. Basically it could be said that the white miss japan could be pushing white stereotypes of beauty unto japanese people, while Iranian miss germany wasn't doing that. I believe that in order to represent a country you must have a deep tie to it/grew up there/are mixed etc, but no hate to either women (white miss japan did have an affair with a married man tho so L)
