No way that dude is competent lmao.
Bro really went out of his way to pick people that have never seen Pokemon before despite NPCs mentioning trainers existing elsewhere and even have allegedly caught the starters for professor Laventon, and is surprised that his squad supposed to study the wildlife in Hisui made 0 progress in 2 whole years (I guess the protagonist needed to be special, despite the clans themselves having decent relationships with Pokemon and just never helping).

The thing is wild Pokémon should always be considered dangerous. Pokémon take heavily inspiration from monsters in jrpgs like Dragon Quest. Prof. Oak warns you not to go in the tall grass without a Pokémon of your own to defend yourself and Ash almost dies in the first episode to a flock a Spearow.

It's never gonna happen but I wish the villagers in Legends games started out thinking that trainers were kind of lunatics. Like "okay keeping a growlithe around makes sense, we've done that since forever, but you want to tame a LUXRAY? A TYRANITAR? Are you out of your mind?" only to prove that it's possible. Training Pokemon is supposed to be a relatively new concept in Legends. Take advantage of that

Kamado has too cool of a character design for me to hate him (seriously, LOVE the kimono). Also, he SHOULD be right. Pokémon are dangerous creatures, dangerous creatures that we can tame and befriend, but dangerous creatures, nonetheless. Especially in the Pokémon world's past when it was harder to defend villages against rampaging Gyarados and Garchomp. Even cute Pokémon like Bidoof and Starly can be nuisances by chewing buildings or eating crops. I wish GameFreak would bring back the adventurous tone earlier Pokémon games had where it felt like we were setting out on a journey to brave unknown dangers. Legends Arceus letting wild Pokémon attack the trainer directly was a dream come true and now I want it in the mainline games.

It makes me laugh to think both this game and S/V are the first pokemon games in recent memory to feature characters that elicit such strong emotional responses from me any time I look at them. Kamado makes me feel deep burning contemp, and Arven's story has me in tears as a former dog owner. Say what you will about the gameplay quality, but damn has GF gotten character building nailed down as of late?

I honestly never thought of him as a villain. I guess just because I'm use to Pokemon making their villain's the "I'M GOING TO USE THIS GOD TO TAKE OVER THE TRI-STATE AREA!" kind of people.
