An easier way to get the shell off as a complete unit is to gently lift and drop the plow blade on the edge of the box it came in until the chassis weight starts to drop out. No prying needed with a screw driver is needed. This works with just about any manufacturers' N-scale locomotives on the market. And if you are doing this to repaint the shell, it comes apart easier after the chassis is out of the shell. I hope this tip helps you out.

I’m going to remember that next time I start trying to take apart my N scale locomotives. “Wiggle your big toe “those are excellent words of advice. I have broken so many parts and pieces and dropped so many locomotives that I’m almost scared to work on them now

Wiggle it, just a little bit.
