Getting around Hong Kong with a pet is not easy for many owners, especially those with no access to a car. The city’s first animal-friendly double-decker bus hit the road on October 13, 2024. Owners have welcomed the new coach service that runs on weekends and public holidays, but many say the service is far from enough to make the city pet-friendly. Some Hong Kong shopping centres currently allow pets if they are carried or placed in strollers. However, animals are still banned from many other types of public transport and most restaurants.
