Bro this guy making us plumbers look bad all the time. Who the hell uses a multi tool to cut out that small amount of foam.

He takes absolutely no blame. Always assume there is electrical in finished walls

As a commercial industrial electrician never blindly cut into walls. Always know what is in the wall you are cutting this could have been way worse

Coulda used a utility blade or flathead screwdriver to poke around in there and make sure you’re clear. That’s what I do any time there insulation foam, ya never know what someone put in there

An electrical tester would tell you that there's a wire behind there. Even most of your basic stud finders are able to detect electrical lines and walls

Im an electrcian and cut into walls all the time, use the fine knife to cut the first layer. After removing the first layer you use a hand tool, not a power tool to remove insulation and debris. Saves you time and money, dont wanna hit electrical or plumbing.

Not my trade! But could you use a stud finder or a metal detector to locate romex? Just an idea 💡

I've never seen such a violent arc like that. Must have been 50 or more amp circuit

Should always look for outlets around and outside if you are planning on cutting shit up with out even poking in the foam.

Glad youre okay but also glad you got this on video. Super cool to see and unfortunately could have happened to damn near anyone. Maybe next time someone goes to do something like this they too will take some precautions to keep them selves and others safe.

This happened to me a few years ago, cutting a small access hole in drywall. There was romex running inside of a tape joint, literally inside the drywall at this customers house. I was in full concentration, staring at what im doing, and all of a sudden I exploded. At least that's what ran through my head in the immediate seconds following. Blew up in my face. Then my foreman got mad and called me an idiot 🤘

Always good to check both sides of the wall.

They make stud finders that also locate power and there's also a pen that beeps really loud when electric current is present. Plenty of tools to prevent this other than acting like no one else could have found it unless they hit it with a saw... 😂

Like you said don't know how anyone would know. In that situation pull foam with hand
