Hold on. I live in Japan and that’s straight up illegal here. Non residents are required to have their passport on them at all times of face serious legal consequences. I would assume other countries also have a similar rule. So that’s not only supremely messed up and a cult tactic, but also some missionaries could potentially take legal action against the church for that.

I’ve always had an open door policy for the missionaries. I feed them. I know they’re not eating well and do not have the means. I play their fav music. I send them home with blankets when it’s cold, and they have little to no heat. I let them know on the dl I will help them with food, Medical care or other needs they may have like, going home or calling their moms for help. They’re KIDS. How dare the church. Shame on them.

I've been following this channel for a bit, and when I mentioned it to my mother she told me that, right before she met my father, she was about to become mormon. She was supposed to get baptised and simply didn't show up to church the day of the baptism. She was christian at the time, but she became suspicious of the church when she saw that they were willing to baptise her in a very short time. I would definitely not have existed if she had gone through with it, since my father's beliefs and lifestyle are very incompatible with mormon rules.

That sounds awfully close to the concept of human trafficking.
