This is actually legal in tennis, too. It just doesn't happen often (I think I remember seeing something like this happen) because it would take a ton of backspin to bounce back over the net. The player just needs to go around the net and not touch it before hitting the ball.

This is just another example of some drunk AF friends making a game up, i.e. BASEketball, while pounding the beers wishing they made the football team or at the very minimum had ANY ATHLETICISM to play a real sport!!!!

Henry the 8th had a private indoor tennis court that had some unique walls and equally unique rules to match. Him and his court, most of medieval europe really, wouldve loved this game.
And yes king henry absolutely used home field advantage whenever he could. The tennis masters that work there to this day delight in sharing his favorite off-the-wall moves.
May also be the genesis of that phrase in common usage in english. Off-the-wall means wacky perhaps because of a weird set of tennis rules 500 years ago. And people talked about it so much it became ingrained in the language.
Its not just legal its supremely historically precedented. Its more like original tennis than the highest levels played today.
Also, check any protrait of the founding of the first french republic. It happened in a tennis court. Look at the size and scale and layout of the court: its tiny and entirely walled. Everybody met there because everyone knew where the courts were because they all played.
