Agree ๐ฏ the first 2 were good with lots of blood and gore but the story just wasn't cutting it! The Leprechaun franchise is second on this list of worst!!

Hellraiser isn't just a straight up horror, it is a psychosexual gothic nightmarish fantasy, and the sequels past Hellbound should not be included as they are just commercial franchises attempting to turn the hell priest (pinhead) into another shlocky slasher when the cenobites are servents of Leviathan and hell and not the monster of the story, the monster of the story "The Hellbound Heart" and the film Hellraiser are the humans, Frank and Julia. It is a tale of temptation, indulgence, excess, lust, and deviance taken to the extreme. Clive Barker goes beyond horror, and he created the first film where the demon was neither good or evil, but a servant of desire and experience. As the tag line says; "demons to some, angels to others." It is one of the most celebrated body horror styled films for a reason. I expected a person with such a deep knowledge of all types of horror to understand that Hellraiser isn't supposed to be a standard horror and sits in a place of its own, the nightmare equivalent to fantasy.

I suggest watching the remake with Jamie Clayton to get a bit more of a feel of what the novella was about, it is closer to the Hellbound Heart and takes the story into a new direction more in line with the original cenobites and story.
