So glad you chose this example. When my son was diagnosed with cancer, a local person who believed he had the healing gift asked if he could "lay hands on him." I declined but I wondered, "If you have this gift, you could probably stay fairly busy. Just walk into a children's cancer ward and start healing. If you have to lay hands, I question if you have even mustard seed size faith" But I didn't say that because I'm weak, I guess. So I took my son to his chemo treatments which was initially discovered through analysis of the effects of mustard gas in WW1 which was God's plan I guess. Fantastic plan. If I was omnipotent, I definitely couldn't have come up with something better than chemo.

I'll look into the faith thing when amputees start regrowing limbs. But in all fairness, science will do that before any supernatural nonsense is ever discovered.

My great grandmother was a faith healer/witch back in the NC mountains but looking back some of her stuff was right on. Homemade liquor in heavy doses can help with a lot of stuff lol but she also blew into children's mouths to cure thrush, mixed herbs for potions and lotions. Now we know she was onto something as ethyl alcohol can help reduce effects of venom, bacteria transplants can help deal with oral biome issues, those bend actually do help stuff. She was just taught these medicines with little incantations that did more to help pass along the info than actually heal.
I also want to tell any believer to just check out some stuff about physics and cosmology and leave God out of the picture and see what we already know about this magical world we really do live in. Like we're made of atoms that are mostly empty space, that's crazy but we know it's real. We're made up of little bits of vibrating energy interacting with other little bits. We are pieces of the universe experiencing itself, we're made of the universe and we're learning and living in the universe! That's easy more glorious than any Heaven to be imagined.

We never see faith healers in child cancer wards, for the same reason we donāt see psychics winning the lottery.
