Why do you sail straight downwind? It’s possibly a very slow course as compared to a broad reach. There is probably no or little difference in distance sailed as wobbling about is still equivalent to a course change. A broad reach could be a more comfortable relationship with the waves and you have the choice of two. ?

Amazing fish, bravo. Someone told me years ago to use some 40 degree alcohol, just a small quantity, throw it in the gills as soon as the fish hit the deek , it looks like an instant anesthesia!!
Of course the capt or the one that caught the fish finishes the glass!!
