Just to let you know, all of the references to a character named “John” is actually talking about a popular video game character you play as in Red Dead Redemption by Rockstar. The “Rip Van Winkle” name is a name made up by John, who runs with a group of outlaws called the Van Der Linde gang, when law enforcer Agent Milton asks who he is.

I had 3 bottles of Sazerac I bought a long time ago when you could still find it on the shelf.
I'm on the last bottle. It's 126%, so it needs a drop or 2 of bottled water to open it up but I have to say, I've been privileged to drink almost all of the allocated bourbon/whiskeys and I still think that the Thomas Handy Sazerac is my favorite and Eagle Rare 17 is my #2. I like them better than Pappy.
To me it's all about taste, not price.

I agree. I paid for a private Pappy tasting and the 23 I had was so smokey that even when the glass was covered with a coaster you could smell the smoke 3 steps away. It was awful. The 20 and 15 were fine, but I would never pay the over marketed price they want when there are so many great bourbons out there at decent prices. Personally, I like Eagle Rare 17 much better than Pappy.
