The History of Cadillac

Cadillac was founded in 1902 by Henry Leland, a mechanical engineer, and entrepreneur, who named the company after Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, the founder of Detroit. The first Cadillac model, the Runabout, was introduced in 1903. Cadillac was known for its engineering and innovative features, such as the electric starter invented by Charles Kettering, which was introduced in 1912.

In 1909, General Motors (GM) bought Cadillac.
During this time, V8 engines, enclosed bodies, AC, and power windows were introduced.

Cadillac unveiled its legendary V16 engine in the 1930s, which quickly came to represent elegance and strength. Celebrities in this era favored Cadillac vehicles.

Cadillac underwent a makeover in the early 2000s to change its image and attract younger customers. They introduced a new design language known as "Art and Science," which has been defined by sharp angles and attractive stylings like in the CTS and Escalade models.

The 1903 Cadillac "Runabout" was actually a copy of the 1903 Ford. Check the history; I forget the details and too lazy to look it up again.

New Cadillacs are trash if we wanted a BMW we'd buy one. You buy a Cadillac to have a giant boat od a vehicle that has a bespoke amount of horsepower usually coming from a ridiculously displaced engine. It has a floaty ride and should slide off any track in Germany when it attempts to make the turn at speed. A Cadillac has couches for seats not racing inspired buckets. Escalade is the best selling because it's a giant RWD (AWD) car with big cushy seats they have gotten thinner which is dumb. Cadillac was at its best in the 50s early 60s and through the early 90 Sans the NorthStar junk. Bring back the Brougham and de Elegance packages. So far from it's roots. No one wants a rebadged Chevy Equinox or Impala.
