In Portugal the moment you declare to be pregnant all medical bills are paid and exams. The birth is also paid. All medical appointments to the child are paid up to their 18th birthday.
Mothers can have 6 month leave with 100%, no taxes salary or split with father. Where mother gets 80% of salary for 6 months and 1 month paid for the father... France have even more benefits like 1 year paid leave.

Pretty meager. What about post-birth?

Are these really for everyone in the whole country??

We have very similar benefits at my job in the USA. Just no 3600$ on top of everything. But dad’s get 2 months paid at 70%. While mothers get 6 months paid at 70%

Hi Asagi.
I love you baby.
What fun.
Thanks for the information.
There should also be the possibility for less wealthy people in Japan to get further financial support in case of a greater burden.
But it's all about caps and exceptions, details.
It's nice that Japan cares about the people.
I would be interested in comparisons with Germany in the applications.
In my estimation, Japan has an automatic system.
In Germany, you have to make an application for everything.
The application is scrutinised by a civil servant for errors and misuse.
Oh, I'm rambling again.
Asagi, best wishes for you and your baby, and of course for your other loved ones.
Hope to see you again soon.

Hi Asagi.
I love you Baby.
