You should try as hard as you can to not fail so that when you do, you learn the most. Anyone can fail. Just make sure when you do, it's for a good reason.

I understand where you're coming from, but this kinda fits into that sounds- good- but- not- entirely- accurate "guru wisdom" category.
You definitely need to balance planning and action; you don't want to fall victim to analysis paralysis, but failing isn't inherently beneficial either, it's only what you make of it.
If you practice introspection, and assess your flaws and missteps with humility, you can gain valuable info from the experience.
Whereas if you're stubborn, and unwilling to observe the errors that caused the failure, you're likely to repeat the same mistakes (or it's possible you just give up, blaming the "system" itself).
