Prince Caspian, the second volume of The Chronicles of Narnia, by CS Lewis, develops a similar theme, feeling unequal to the task of monarchy.
" ‘Welcome, Prince,’ said Aslan. ‘Do you feel yourself sufficient to take up the Kingship of Narnia?’
‘I–I don’t think I do, Sir,’ said Caspian. ‘I’m only a kid.’
‘Good,’ said Aslan. ‘If you had felt yourself sufficient, it would have been a proof that you were not. Therefore, under us and under the High King, you shall be King of Narnia, Lord of Cair Paravel, and Emperor of the Lone Islands.’ "

Nit pick. Aragorn is only hesitant to claim the throne in the movies. In the book he is eager to reclaim the throne, but patient to wait for the opportune moment. I think in the movie, they were angling for the reluctant hero trope. And while book Aragorn is not rashly pursuing power, he is none-the-less determined to one day reclaim the throne of Gondor. Anyways, I think your analogy still works for either the movies or the book, just in different ways.

I have seen so many people make sinful decisions because they put their happiness above obedience to God and his Word. I have seen some of those people end up regretting that decision, but sometimes, they are actually happier. I have had to make this decision in my life as well. The point is that sometimes we have to choose obedience over happiness. In that obedience, we will find contentment and joy.

Aragorn was only hesitant in the movies. "So Uncivilized" made a video "Why Lord Of The Rings Feels Like Tolkiens (Even When It Doesn't)" that explains—among other things—the reasoning behind the change.
The video emphasizes the importance of trusting the source material because Tolkien knew what he was doing. Utmost care was required in making changes to be still able to get back to the right track.
That is also a great analogy.

This is like 💯 confirmation of what I had laying on my heart this morning. I'm a wedding and event hairstylist and I have been wanting to push my business further and really get out there and go crazy with it. But on the other hand I have felt God calling me to write a book about a very specific subject for 5 years now- but I don't really want to because it's a very personal thing and I am not a public person when it comes to my life and suffering but walking in obedience to do this thing would require me to be completely public about everything.
And I had this thought that sure, providing for my family with my hair business is not living in disobedience to God. But also by not doing this thing I know that God is calling me to, I am not living in full, surrendered, and ultimate obedience to Him and His will for my life. And I was thinking that I will never have that ultimate fulfillment, despite it being something that I would be sacrificing alot to do, unless I am walking in that obedience of His calling for my life.
I just came on YT for a second and almost didn't watch this video, but I think God is trying to tell me something

“What we think will fill us, empties us. And what we think will empty us, often presents a vessel to be filled by the Lord.” So true.
