The 7 variations of the Bunkai of Heian SANDAN in an in-depth analysis of the fighting techniques used in the Kata. Partner drills performed with Senpai Nathanaël, second Dan.

The techniques used:

Uchi-Uke: Blocking of the forearm, from the inside to the outside.
Back stance: Kōkutsu-Dachi.
Kata movement 1 and 4.

Gedan Baraï: Downward block. Lower level.
Uchi-Uke: Blocking of the forearm, from the inside to the outside.
Closed foot stance: Heisoku-Dachi.
Kata movement 2, 3, 5, 6.

Morote-Uke: Double blocking with both arms.
Back stance: Kōkutsu-Dachi.
Kata movement 7.

Chūdan Nukite: Spear-hand strike. Middle level.
Osae-Uke: Pressing block, with the palm of the hand.
Front stance: Zenkutsu-Dachi.
Kata movement 8.

Chūdan Tetsui Yoko-Uchi: Lateral attack with the underside of the closed fist, in the shape of a hammer. Middle level.
Hikite: Pull the other hand back.
Horse Riding Stance: Kiba-Dachi.
Kata movement 9.

Oï-Zuki: Front punch to the same side of the leg.
Front stance: Zenkutsu-Dachi.
Kata movement 10 (KIAI!).

Ryo-Ken-Kochi-Kamae: Pivot 180° on the right foot to the left.
Closed foot stance: Heisoku-Dachi.
Kata movement 11.

Yoko-Fumikomi: Lateral penetrating kick.
Yoko-Empi-Uchi: Lateral elbow block.
Horse Riding Stance: Kiba-Dachi.
Kata movement 12, 14, 16.

Jōdan Uraken Tate-Uchi: Back fist punch, vertical. Upper level.
Horse Riding Stance: Kiba-Dachi.
Kata movement 13, 15, 17.

Tate Chūdan Shuto-Uke: Knife-hand block, vertical. Middle level. (+ Hikite: Pull the other hand back with a closed fist.)
Oï-Zuki: Front punch to the same side of the leg.
Front stance: Zenkutsu-Dachi.
Kata movement 18.

Jōdan Mawashi-Zuki: Circular punch. Upper level.
Ushiro Empi-Uchi: Elbow strike to the back.
Horse Riding Stance: Kiba-Dachi.
Kata movement 19 et 20 (KIAI!).
