CORRECTION: We are not descended from monkeys or any other primate living today. Humans (H.sapiens) and chimpanzees
(P.troglodytes) went two different lineages. (Like a tree that has separate branches). The lineage leading to modern humans separated from the lineages leading to chimpanzees and bonobos 5.5–7 million years ago (mya), from the lineage leading to gorillas 8.5–12 mya, and from the lineage leading to orangutans 9–13 mya. However, we do share a common ape ancestor with chimpanzees. Humans are apes, we are in the hominid family of primates right now.

Aron is wrong. To be "people" isn't limited to humans. If an animal is sentient with a personality, it is "people". Dogs and dolphins are people, but they aren't monkeys.

I love how creationists deny that we are animals, they also deny that we are monkeys, but they accept that we are mammals.
It's like saying that a guitar is a musical instrument, but it's neither an object nor a stringed instrument.
