Yup very true. If you buy off brand in the US and off brand in the DR its about the same, really no huge savings either way. Some people claim that things are cheaper in the DR...nope its not!

I'm in the DR right now and he's right it's not as cheap as you think. In fact some things are MORE expensive. I'm not riding a bus around and car rentals are quite a bit more expensive, just as one example. I won't be back.

If you want US products you will pay the same or more. If you go to the butcher and local fruits and vegetables markets you come out much cheaper. Supermarket isn’t too bad for those things either but going to farmer market type spots and local butcher, you will save a lot of money. But that’s anywhere in the world.

I remembered I commented this last year. My 1st trip in Dr I spent like 3k in just 1 week. I swear that almost made me not to go back. But then it was my fault. I should have double down on my expenses and my expectations were too high. But now it has been 3 years since I bought a hole there and life is okay. Only stress I have now is the light that occasionally turn off. 😅 but hey it’s still good because my blood pressure is way down compared to when I was in Miami
