Read Truman's biography, you will have so much respect for him, and wish we had ANY politicians with his integrity.

The Former Presidents Act of 1958 provides several benefits and perks that are available to presidents after they leave office. The biggest personal benefit that former presidents are entitled to is an annual pension equal to the pay for a Cabinet Secretary, which is $221,400 in 2021.

Grant was able to secure some money for his family before his death by writing his autobiography/memoir. He was suffering from throat cancer and finished it before his death

Harry S Truman... the "S" doesn't stand for anything; he did not have a middle name. Truman sold hats for a living before going into politics, and when he left the White House, Congress worked out the details to give him a pension. He had no wealth whatsoever.

Usually a person with staggering debts is considered poor, but I guess we judge differently now. Thomas Jefferson.

I can’t argue with the last two but they’re in the wrong order. We wouldn’t have a country without GW
