Half-mile walk through deep sand will take you to the Shunesburg Mail Drop from the Trailhead. A cable with pulleys allowed mail to be sent down and brought back up this 600+ foot drop. The settlement of Shunesburg was occupied from 1862 - 1902 and the area had about 45 people at its peak.
The Shunesburg Mail Drop currently lies just outside the Southeast corner of Zion National Park and within the Canaan Mountain Wilderness Area.
