The wilderness is necessary to prepare us before we enter the promised land.

We sin, we suffer, recall out to God, through Jesus, we receive forgiveness, we work through our suffering with the help of the Holy Spirit Jesus, Mary, the Saints, etc. Moving through the suffering with grace is the purgation process that happens on earth, and it is also simultaneously happening in the heavens when we connect with that healing process.

Jonathan mentions suffering/purgation, and the two choices: torment/purgation. Protestants say that when you sin, your sin is forgiven, the slate washed clean, almost as if there should be no suffering once you have asked Christ for forgiveness. But I donā€™t think anywhere. Christ said you wonā€™t suffer from sin, once forgivenā€¦ although I think that can be implied through many protestant evangelical preaching.

This is so amazing to me because itā€™s something that Iā€™ve always known and assumed so it is surprising to me that people donā€™t understand it. I think CS Lewis understood itā€¦ Though I donā€™t think he said that exactly in so many words.

I thought of A Christmas Carol through much of this conversation on Purgatory. Scrooge entered a sort of Purgatory that included the event of his own death then was redeemed and experienced the Heaven on Earth as was discussed.

What about the suffering jesus went through? How does that relate to sin bringing suffering?

does this mean that life after death is not literal and there is nothing after death?

So sin and righteousness bear fruit in our lives now, and after we die our farming habits take place eternally? I'm confused but want to learn.

The reality of sin is that make's you suffer. That's just bullshit. Everything make's you suffer, every single anything in the whole reality make's you suffer.
