I've been teaching English for almost 20 years now πŸ‘΄πŸ» and during that time I've noticed that there are certain grammar and vocabulary mistakes that students make over and over again.
In this short video, I share the 3 most mistakes that English learners make (based on my observations) so you can be more aware of these mistakes.

In many languages the word for "people" is ACTUALLY singular. So, yes, this is a mistake, but I started to realize why people makeS it ;-) When it comes to modal verbs, I have noticed that some of them behave different from what I had been taught, examples would be "help" and "need" - usually followed by an infinitive. I usually hear "I don't need to", "I didn't need to" rather than "I needn't" these days.

Nope I have almost never made those mistakes. Perhaps, once I used the third one by mistaken.

Hi Ben. I'm new to your channel and I'm already looking forward to your new videos. Also, please, shed some light on 'people' and 'peoples'.

In western languages, 'people' usually has (!) a singular form, das Volk, la gente, etc.

I would never expect C1 and C2 speakers of English to make such mistakes.

Ben, my mother tongue is Spanish, and I am starting to realise way too many people (including myself) pronounce the V and B as if they were the same, and they are two completely different letters. I wish my high school teachers had emphasised more on this aspect
