Fly Stitch

Hi I’m ERIN and today I’ll be showing you the fly stitch. The fly stitch is an extremely versatile stitch that can be used for everything from Decorative borders, flower petals, leaves, branches, scales, fill stitches, you name.

The fly stage can be ran horizontally or vertically. today I’ll be showing you the Fly stitch and some of its variations.

Start by bringing your needle up online one at the point you would like your stitch to begin. Moving horizontally over to line 3 push your needle down. Don’t pull your thread all the way though, leave some slack.

While holding your slack down bring your needle up on the second line at the point that will be the anchor to your fly stitch. This will determine its length. The needle should be above the slack. Pull the working thread until your slack is taught creating a little “v” or “y”
You can really play around with different variations of the flies stitch, maybe you want your stitches closer together, or attached...
for attached fly stitches bring your anchor stitch up through the same hole you went down for your last anchorage stitch
perhaps you want a longer anchor stitch.
