“That’s delicious, we have to make that more often” wowzers, she’s always spoken so well every video amazes me. A child that isn’t in fight or flight mode, that’s loved, encouraged and accepted, and that’s raised in an environment where they choose peace and love and bonding as a family over anything, where they don’t shut down their child’s emotions and make them feel heard and seen. All of that makes a byproduct of this wonderful child right here, shown very clearly in just a short clip. The opposite environment and behaviors create the opposite byproduct, and I am happy these children get to have a life I didn’t have the chance to experience. It’s amazing seeing how much her confidence is emboldened by his encouragement. She flipped the pancake, it wasn’t perfect the edge was kinda messed up. My dad would have made fun of me, even if it was my first time and I was a kid, and it made me feel awful. But when she looked up at him for understanding, he was excited, and her face lit up with excitement too. Just that little bit of encouragement gave her so much pride in herself and her action, it’s cathartic to see.
I hope to be there for my future children the way you are for her. You are providing examples that some people never had and it’s invaluable to learn from.
