It's because at night because most people are asleep normal silent sounds because of the lack of external sounds to cover it stuff like talking sounds way more loud due to all of external sound, Wich makes everything sound 10x more clear, and also that parents since the baby era of their kids need to be half asleep with a capability of hearing never seen before to prevent their baby to forgery breathing (yes they can forget to breathe) and this ability deteriorates over time for parents but it's always there so they hear stuff from specific rooms very well
