These are questions I wanted to ask Mat when you did this: But what's the difference between a bouzouki and a banjo? Is a bouzouki a "banjo" from another culture? Or vice versa? Is one an "heir" of the other origin-wise? Or is there any relation between them at all? Which one was invented first and where? Is it made with the same kind of wood? Same number of strings? Why are they so similar in sound? And where is the bouzouki used most, both culturally and musically?
