Also me: to find the first and easiest gold bar? Just wait until you’re in the first camp in chapter 2. Head down the left side of the hill when Leaving camp, keep going down into you come across the river and turn left onto the road and held towards the abandoned burn down town. Go towards the center of the town and at the very far right you’ll see the sheriff place. Enter it and go to where the counter is. Behind it you’ll find a box and in it is a gold bar👍🏼

You can also get an item called the braithwaite sheild, it's only available in "blood feuds, ancient and modern" above the fireplace in the manor.
