I feel like this is a chicken/egg scenario.
The audio professionals who use the software tend to be pretty resistant to change. Between hardware/software compatibility issues, being bitten by automatic OS upgrades gone wrong, or plain ol fear of change, there are lots of studios out there still clinging onto setups that are a decade+ old.
No matter how compelling the benefits may be, efforts to revolutionize audio software face an uphill battle in the near term, imo. It’s an interesting challenge since it’s far broader than technology itself.
I think this gets easier over time, though, since younger generations won’t have the same expectations, having grown up in a digital world where automatic daily/weekly updates are the norm, and backwards compatibility is barely considered.
