"Stop harming animals because you have no right to do so." Yes, and people know that it's wrong. But many are in denial for the sake of personal gain (greed).
Sentience is the value of a life that people recognize within another. And people need to think and use logic in order to realize that any empathy means that there is a recognition of such a moral value and equal status deserving respect and so is therefore qualified for the protection from discrimination based on irrelevant criteria for mattering (for example, differences) and a mistaken attribution of instrumental value (material worth (a value that can be more or less)) for moral value and greed.

85 years is not that long, certainly not a centinarian. Though one can be optimally healthy on a plant-based diet, maybe even become a centinarian, veganism is not about health anyway, it's about not exploiting animals and not being cruel, essentially a recognition of the value of a life, and so, an animal rights philosophy put into practice.

Yup. Veganism is an ethical stance. Human longevity is not very good for the planet. Imagine 8 billion people living 100 years and more, plus procreating.
