Mislabeling trees consistently should be highly frowned upon and addressed in my opinion. You’re not only investing in the price of the tree but the time invested in waiting for fruit you will never get back.

Sorry! To hear what happened Paul. I hope you pick ur entire crop and donate it to a church or soup kitchen for those who are in need.

Bro, gift the tree away. As they say, one man's poison is another man's food.

Aw, man. That's the worst. I recently bought a "Cheena" from Top Tropicals that is just a Cheena seedling. Soooo disappointing

I’m in California. I agree with many of the comments that the purchaser is also investing in up-potting, maintenance, etc. I bought a citrus a couple of years ago. They gave me a mislabeled Red Ruby grapefruit when I paid for an Oro Blanco variety. It took me a sold 2 years to figure it out. Thankfully, that nursery gave a correct one and is letting me keep the mistaken one!

I bought a tiny Hatcher tree from the Hatcher mango farm about 12 years ago and 6 years later it turned out to be a Van Dyke and boy was I pissed. I called Mrs Hatcher and as sweet as can be this wonderful lady told me to come up to her and she’d give me a really nice Hatcher tree. Not to dump on Excaliber where they have really nice people working there but I decided long ago not to buy trees there because there is too much cover over their trees which is the formula for fungi to proliferate. Whereas Zill is entirely open over all their trees and one cannot get more perfect trees anywhere.

When I shop, I ask about their return policy if I prove the item is mislabelled. Or replacement policy. It stops them dead in their tracks. Those whoe are confident will proceed with the return/exchange policy.

Sorry but now you know why so many people speak negatively about the E nursery. Terrible to put so much time in and get screwed

I would not buy from that nursery. At least you can top work and make a positive out of a negative.

New follower here thanks for sharing. If you haven’t done so yet, please do a video on how to cut back a tree thats in a pot. Specifically a mango. I would love to see how you cut that back and graft it to the simmons. Thanks

Luckily you know how to graft just top work simmons the root system is great. We need to announce these nurseries and private vendors so we can vote with our dollars and not support these types of fuck ups

Donni is not worthless. No edible fruit is.

We have 10 Donnis in our grove, among 15 other varieties. They are not ranked as the best. Of course not. But we eat them and many clients like them.

Its very common for that nursery. There name starts with an E.

Doni variety leaves smell like licorice. It is native to Mexico. Simmons leaves do not. You could have discovered that at the nursery. Like test driving a car.

I heard a lot about that nursery (Excalibur Nursery) selling a lot of mislabeled trees. I hope none that i got from them are mislabeled. Shame.... You waste years of your life waiting for it to fruit only to find out that it is not what it was supposed to be when it does finally fruit. They need to be boycotted.....
