Tempo advantage are not just "roam". If you can clear and consistently have more item than your opponent in lane, THAT alone is tempo advantage. Why? Because if enemies team are smart (which they are because "high elo") they will avoid fight near mid lane because they know you have better tempo than your mid laner. Why would you go roam and shorten that tempo if the roam not success? Keep clearing wave and buy item is way better than forcing a roam that may go bad and lost that tempo. You dont roam because you have tempo advantage, tempo advantage simply give you more wiggle room if you want to roam and if you dont roam that tempo advantage stay the same, it not going anywhere.
Or course roaming work for pisslow elo because no one have any map awareness or macro. You can literally walk from top to bot and no one know you are gone. In decent elo (not even high) the moment you disappear, enemies will know you are fuck off somewhere. And in high elo, they can even set up a ambush for you, and now you have to drag your sorry ass back to lane and wasted 30s instead of keep pushing the wave

Honestly, with how bad my roams end most of the time, I like that approach. Either I die, or enemies just flash away, while I lose gold, exp and platings. It's probably better to just stay mid, push und create pressure that way
