Most guitarist in the early sixties thought the les paul was too heavy, as they played live. The late 60's studio was king & les pauls are full rich variable sounding, & great for recording. SG was instantly popular because it was light. Melody Maker was the guitar replaced by SG.

Thank you. To make my first five point electric guitar out of Vermillion or paduk in 10th grade ‘79. I imitated my 1978 Ibanez [Gibson] Les Paul copy, I just added fuzz box, I don’t even know what to call it anymore.

I have baan wanted some kind of Firebird recently so bad its all i look for . Im not a gibson guy. I mostly play and own many PRS.. dont know why i want this but i bet its cause i heard a boutique brand with Firebird pups and now im chasing that sound and feel

I have a strat, 335, tele, les paul and explorer. If money were no handicap, I would prefer Gibson's line and yes, a Firebird.

Firebird VI.. only guitar I am GASsing for right now. Will have to win the lottery first though.
Red will do (Phil Manzanara) - but really gunning for sunburst (PJ Harvey).
