That’s why I’m so good at the flute and learned so quickly I played the violin then went to middle school and joined band as a flute

this one almost made me cry lol I’m a freelance teaching artist in Philly. My education is in acting, but in my elm and middle schools we do a more general creative expression class. From one arts teacher to another, thank you for encouraging your students to learn no matter what!

I play viola and my middle school band teacher was absolutely amazing and transcribed all of the trombone parts to alto clef so that I could play with the band!

I was this kid, but my teacher let me play the violin, and even though the flat keys are annoying on violin, it was still fun, and I'm very glad I got to play because it was the only way I could play violin with a group.

My school band accepts any instrument, the teachers were excited getting new instruments and ppl playing them, I play bass in concert band and they still find sheet music for it

Even though we only had bands when I went to middle and high school of someone transferred from an orchestra our band teachers would find music and they would play the same things as an instrument of the same key as them. It’s not hard to accommodate. It makes them happy they don’t have to stop playing what they love.

I played trumpet for a couple years and learned how to play 6 or 7 instruments and up to 6 mallet percussion pretty well this year alone. 90% of music so transferable to every instrument.

We were a small band and had 1 kid who couldn’t play anything until he brought in his guitar one day. The band director had him basically being an errand boy around the room for everyone until we heard him play. IT WAS AMAZING. After that, the director got him music and he’d stand in the front with a microphone on the acoustic guitar. It was so cool and band was always better after that. My director, Mr Morgan, WAS THE BEST. I miss him to this day. ❤
