“The 55 name [55km Walk for Ummeed] really, really makes people go what, like 55 [kms]. I would say come, come and do 5, do 15, do 25 [kms]. It doesn't matter. And if you think that you can do 5 [kms] in Bombay, you will do 10 [kms] over there [South Goa]. The air is clean, the people are nice, the environment is such and it is actually to experience what that journey is like more than about [how much] did I walk.

So I would say just come and do it once. I'm sure that you will come again.

Life at the end of it is really, really beautiful if we don't fight against it, we have to see everything that's around us and who we are and how we fit into the environment around us. And the people who come for the Walk embody that. That is part of the way that we [Ummeed] provide care for our children. It goes into our value systems, for our children, for our families, for ourselves, for all the professionals that we work with. Juthika Nagpal is a non-binary single mother and the Chief Operating Officer at Ummeed. They embarked on their first walk in January 2024.

We are pleased to inform you that the 15th edition of the 55 KM Walk for UMMEED will be held on Saturday, 11th January 2025 on the beaches of South Goa. It is a walk to raise awareness about developmental disabilities and support Ummeed's work with children and families.
