I use grow lights and my albino bristlenose pleco, snails and shrimp still need algae wafers every now and then because they're greedy. I've never seen any of that green hair algae either. I think you just don't have enough plants in there.

This algae looks like filament algae, which is for excess of N (from NPK). Possibly CO2 missing or bad filtration. More biological filtration can help to reduce peaks of ammonia and nitrates.

Of course, having that big thing is problematic, a small one or grow light as bar type can really help and will allow you to move it down and closer to the aquarium.

This light is for big surfaces I think, I have seen them and besides are way more expensive than FS aquarium lights.

I think the algee has a diferent source. THe inside of aquarium looks dimm, so the algee must have a lots of nutrients to grow. Not the grow light

I use spider farmer over my planted tank with a UV light on and off. With the dimming and such that the grow lights enable you to do, I have to say this video is off. If you go with a high quality growth light you should not have problems like this.
