The Maschpark was planned around 1900 in direct connection with the construction of the new town hall by garden director Julius Trip and completed in 1913. This makes it the first public "citizen's park" in the city of Hanover. The focal point of the park is an artificial pond with many indentations and projections, which narrows laterally under an arched bridge and then merges into a second landscaped pool. The route is mostly based on the banks of the pond, and from different points of view there are attractive views of the effective planting that sets the park in scene, and of the new town hall of the city of Hanover. Henry Moore's sculpture of the Scottish Cross stands on an elevated vantage point. The Maschpark is the link between the city center and the natural Leineaue.
This park around a large artificial pond features walking paths & views of the Neues Rathaus.
